Wilderness Medical Training, Glenmore Lodge

#outdoorfirstaid

Everyday is a school day, the last few days have been no exception.

To improve my own personal development I enrolled on an advanced training course specialising in wilderness medical care when you are far from help.

The content, location and instructors have been excellent, last day tomorrow (along with a celebration of learning to finish off).

A thoroughly enjoyable course with the added bonus of meeting some amazing people all off on exciting expeditions around the globe from studying penguins in the Antarctic, bird and animal life on remote islands to adventurous paddling trips along the Amazon.

We even had a dump of snow covering the Cairngorms with an amazing white sheen.

Orwell Park School Part Two

#adventureactivities

This week was a return to Ipswich and Orwell Park School working with VLM Adventure Consultant's to complete the work on the schools assault course ready for the pupils return.

On completion the course looks great and there is plenty of excitement about using it.  With additional elements the new course record will need to be set.

Lots of thanks to the school staff who looked after us, Simon fellow grafter for the week and Jeremy who kindly helped out with his big yellow digger.

Chelsea vs Manchester United

#eventcover

Working for ERS Medical covering pitch side for Chelsea.

Great game and a hard won result.

Orwell Park School

#adventureactivities

Back to basics this week, working with VLM Adventure Consultants repairing an assault course at Orwell Park School near Ipswich.

Combat engineering skills coming out of the woodwork, although a little help from out friends didn't go amiss.

Pet First Aid at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

#petfirstaid

We ran a successful pet first aid course at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.  Using the modern training facilities at their head office in Buckinghamshire, members of the public learned the basics of emergency care for our furry friends.

Utilising qualifications and skills gained whilst serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, we looked at illnesses, tick removal, breaks, bleeds and even CPR for dogs.

Students ranged from conscientious dog owners to professional dog walkers.

Out next course is in June.

Home from Nepal

#adventuretraining

A very successful trip, every member of the group made it to base camp and shared a wealth of experiences and hopefully took something away with them as it was an acheivement, facing hard trekking, poor weather but the views of the mountain made up for it.

24 hours traveling took its toll, particularly 12 hours in Dehli airport.  Nice to be home.

Next trip to Nepal is October and Everest Base Camp with VLM Adventure Consultants and Himalayan Guides.

#outdoorfirstaid

The weather was with us as our group led by VLM Adventure Consultants and Himalayan Guides made their way to Annapurna Base Camp.

Everyone back down and preparing for the walk out tomorrow.

One More Day to Base Camp

#outdoorfirstaid

Here we are sitting at 3700 metres, lots of snow and the kids are playing making snowmen and sledging.  A trip to remember.

Tomorrow we are heading up to Annapurna Base Camp, an overnight stay and then the long trek out.

Onwards and upwards

It's been a hard few days walking with a mix bag of weather, heavy rain and glorious sunshine.

Everyone in fine fettle and looking forward to getting to base camp.
